The vibrant shores of Boracay recently welcomed a fresh artistic talent, Cymel V. Villanueva, who participated in the Arts in Youth event at the Boracay Crimson Hotel on June 27, 2024. Hailing from the quaint town of Ochando, New Washington, Aklan, Cymel is a Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) student majoring in English and serves as the Editorial Cartoonist for NVC The Forum publication. Her distinct passion and versatility in mixed-media art have captivated audiences, leaving a lasting impression.

From an early age, Cymel's family nurtured her love for art, immersing her in a world of colors, textures, and creative exploration. This early exposure ignited a spark that has since blossomed into her lifelong passion and future career. Her artistic work—vibrant, diverse, and emotionally charged—reflects not only her personal experiences but also a profound connection to her community. "I want to be an artist of the people," Cymel expresses with conviction. "My art is born from everyday experiences, shaped by the moments that define our lives. It's my way of communicating, of connecting through colors and textures." Cymel is more than just an artist—she is a storyteller, a social commentator, and an advocate for her community. Her work exemplifies the transformative power of creativity, reminding us that beauty exists in unexpected places and that art can be a catalyst for positive change. As she continues to chart her artistic journey, Cymel’s unique vision invites us to see the world anew, embrace the beauty of our surroundings, and use our talents to inspire and impact others.
