Job seekers gathered in crowds as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) held the World Café of Opportunities (WCO) Job Fair 2024 at the Aklan Catholic College Mabasa Campus Covered Court in Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan, today, August 16, 2024.

The event, conducted to celebrate TESDA's 30th anniversary and National Tech-Voc Day, attracted job hunters, TESDA graduates, and National Certificate holders hoping to secure employment and advance their careers.
It commenced with an opening program where Aklan TVLs Association (ATSA) representative Dr. Adolphus S. Pueda emphasized that TESDA changes lives in extraordinary ways, as ordinary people trained under their programs are now globally competitive and skilled workers, many of whom are working abroad.
WCO, with the theme "TESDA Tatlong Dekada: Continuing Legacy Towards Global Competency," featured companies offering job vacancies in a wide range of fields and careers, such as travel, shipping, food and beverage, cookery, education, hotel management, security, electronics, and pharmacy.
During the one-day program, TESDA's partner institutions also provided scholarship opportunities to aspirants looking to obtain National Certificates. These scholarships included San Lorenzo College of Iloilo City's Caregiving NC II, Montfort Technical Institute Inc.'s Automotive Servicing NC I and Hairdressing NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, and Northwestern Visayan College's 3-Year Diploma Programs in Hospitality Technology Services, Communication Media and Services Technology, and Computer Application.
Additionally, national government agencies such as the Philippine Employment Information System (PESO), the Philippine National Skills Competition, and the Department of Labor and Employment were present to offer their support programs and projects that applicants could avail of and participate in.
According to Provincial Director of TESDA-Aklan Provincial Office, Dir. John D. Simborios, TESDA's mission is to produce workers who can make a difference to the economy, themselves, and their families. Through this mission, TESDA fully achieves its purpose of molding workers that the world will employ.
The event aimed to empower job seekers by connecting them with potential employers and employment agencies and equipping them with the skills necessary for global competency.
