On September 21, the Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC) achieved a significant milestone by becoming an official member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), a global initiative that aligns academic institutions with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This move solidifies NVC's longstanding commitment to sustainable development, as it seeks to enhance its role in driving environmental and social progress.
"UNAI is a way nga mag commit ro mga academic institutions sa United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) at sa philosophies it UNAI,” President Quimpo said during an interview with the Forum Publication. (UNAI is a way for academic institutions to commit to the UNSDG and the philosophies of UNAI.) “Manami nga ibutang natun nga philosophy ro UNAI sa NVC agud ma challenge man kita, we in the administration ag ro students, that we really support the sustainability goals," he added further. (It’s good to adopt UNAI’s philosophy in NVC so that we can challenge ourselves, administration and students, to show that we really support the sustainability goals.) Plans are underway to implement the UNAI philosophy in future projects to be executed by NVC's diverse student organizations, with further expansion to take place school-wide soon. With its administration and students optimistic, NVC is ready to prove that it is UN-material.
