“We will not be a peer educator if it weren’t for the people who have called us and if not for the call that we answered.”
NOT JUST A MERE STUDENT At first glance, Louis Joseph Candari seems like any other college student. However, when you dig a little deeper, he is far from just any regular student, he is exceptional. A writer, the Forum publication staff, a section editor, and even a passionate student leader in the institution and now newly crowned as second place in the Impromptu Speech during the 2024 Peer Educators Summit. A PEER EDUCATOR'S BEGINNING It all started way back year 2018 when he joined the Peer Educators in the Municipality of Malay. “Since then, I’ve learned so many things that are useful in my everyday life. During that time I have realized things that are crucial and important when it comes to being a peer educator," Candari stated. He joined the peer educators organization which becomes a part of his journey to growth and authenticity in terms of educating his peers through interactive and engaging programs and activities. THREE-POINT RULE WHEREIN THE STANDS HUMILITY, PASSION AND GRATEFULNESS AS THE HIGHLIGHTS OF HIS ANSWER "I used the three-point rule in answering. Ang three-point rule kasi is a way of answering wherein may 3 stands ka regarding sa topic na binigay. And that three stands are Humility, passion and gratefulness in line with the question : 'What are the most importing thing to remember as a peer educator?' "The things we need to remember is, I think we need to practice humility or humbleness, passion and compassion, and lastly always be grateful." Candari highlighted in his answer. He emphasizes how these things are very essential as a peer educator and as an individual as a whole. UNPREPARED AND UNEXPECTED YET FAITH PREVAILS "Ang hirap to think about it na makakapasok ako sa top 2, because andaming magagaling, magaganda din sila sumagot, gumamit din sila ng three-point rule like me, ang eloquent din nila magsalita. Kung di man ako makapasok sa top three, okay lang kasi andami naman kasing magagaling," Candari stated as he explained how overwhelmed he is with the fact that he won despite thinking that there are more eloquent contenders than him. And not to his knowing that his confidence and faith brings him to another pile of achievements. He left a remarkable ending statement in his speech: "If you're an educator, kailangan mong maging mapagpasalamat. Kasi wala ka sa posisyon mo ngayon kung hindi dahil sa mga taong tumawag sayo. We need to always be grateful, we need to always look back to the person or to the people who serves as an instrument why we're here with this family of peer educators, that brings positive change in the community. Each and everyone of you possess those three things that's why you're here, and you have to always seek to create change, and be the change that you want to see in the world." Louis, is truly not just a mere student. He's confident, he's a writer, a student leader, and of course one of the best staff in the Forum Publication that is always making us proud as part of our team. Article by: Kyla Stephanie L.
